Under wraps for quite a while, but now this comic slice of urban life by Ian Pons Jewell for the Jargon-produced track Disappoint You is now out – timed perfectly to coincide with Ian joining the directors roster at Stamp Films.

With a highly entertaining prelude, the video features the charismatic James Hyland playing a nasty cop who undergoes a chemically-induced transformation. “Jargon came to me for a music video with one condition: as the track was from a mixtape sometime ago Tinie Tempah couldn’t be in the video,” Ian explains. “That’s how the idea of a loved-up policeman miming the lyrics came about.

“Morgan Beringer (VFX) managed to mimic the same bulging eye effects which were done on that old drug driving advert to really push the boat out. Jacqueline Bender came on to produce it and was incredible, this being the first video we did on a larger scale without self-producing. She had to scrape by on the £1K budget, but just about got through the other side.

“We managed to get 10foot and Cut, two of the most highly respected graf artists, to feature in the video under condition of anonymity. James Hyland actually wrote the dialogue himself, and we’re looking to work together again soon on a feature.”

Ian, whose work includes videos for Crystal Fighters, Q Unique, and the recent viral campaign for UK hiphop artist Jehst’s Starting Over, now joins the directing roster at Stamp Films, joining directors such as Hope Audikana, Elisha Smith-Leverock, Edward Housden, Roy Raz, Peter Szewczyk and Ewan MacLeod.
