The special guests for the next meeting of Music Video Preservation Society at The Mildmay Club on Thursday, July 9th have been announced. It's DOM&NIC, one of the great music video directing duos. 

DOM&NIC are Nicholas Goffey and Dominic Hawley and their phenomenal body of work includes classic videos for The Chemical Brothers, Supergrass, The Smashing Pumpkins, Faithless, Robbie Williams, Oasis and David Bowie.

They have been working together for over three decades, having started out making Super 8mm films and Hi8 videos of Nic’s brother Danny and his mates’ band - who were originally called The Jennifers, and then became Supergrass - while they were still at school.

Their career started in earnest when Supergrass signed a record deal and they directed the videos for singles from the first album - including era-defining promos for Mansize Rooster and Alright. And they soon branched out to work with The Chemical Brothers, directing the video for Setting Sun in the summer of 1996.

That turned out to be the first of many collaborations with The Chemical Brothers. And although they have been directing commercials since the late 1990s, DOM&NIC have regularly returned to the medium where they made their name, often to work on a new Chemical Brothers video. They have made 10 in all - including the videos for Hey Boy Hey Girl, Believe, The Test, Wide Open - and most recently Live Again in 2023.

DOM&NIC also directed one of David Bowie's best music videos of the 1990s, for I'm Afraid Of Americans - co-starring Trent Reznor - and another one for Bowie that was never finished. And they put Robbie Williams on ice skates for the Brit Award-winning video for She's The One. So MVPS on July 9th will be a trip down memory lane on their 30-plus year career, cramming in as many gems and stories as possible.

There will be lots more besides, with MVPS host David Knight presenting another selection of music video artistry down the decades in the legendary Main Hall of the Mildmay Club in London on Thursday, July 9th.
