Kylie's Slow by Phillips, Duthu and Hock

Kylie's Slow by Phillips, Duthu and Hock

David Knight - 7th Feb 2008

It was the big winner at the Radar Music Video Awards last month, taking the popular vote prize, among others, with a (mind-bogglingly) large number of polled votes on the DazedDigital website. And was shown at BUG 05 last week.

Yes, the video by the self-styled power trio of Kevin Phillips, Terry Duthu and Trey Hock - all recent graduates of Savannah College of Art and Design - is pretty special: a visually stunning, SFX-drenched performance with fantastical storyline which actually starts to make sense after a few viewings.

The trio have been making films at Savannah for the past four years, which goes some way to explain the quality of the production - and according to Trey Hock, they found out about the Radar competition just three and a half weeks before the deadline. Says Trey: "We had to really move, move, move - but luckily it all came together in the end."

The team cast many of their friends from Savannah, and used young dancers from the Gretchen Green School of Dance. No, we haven't heard of it either, but they've obviously got quite a thing going on in that part of Georgia...
