Man Like Me’s Lovestruck by Rollo Jackson

Rollo Jackson and Man Like Me got together a year or so ago to make an engaging video largely set in Smithfield Market for London Town. Now they're reunited for an equally engaging studio performance, and have enlisted the help of highly talented art direction team Jiggery Pokery - that's Anna Lomax and Lauren Davies - who specialize in creating life-size versions of everyday objects.
In this case, pop-up cards. "It was derived from a concept of theirs based on some naff pop-up cards they picked up on a trip to India," says Rollo. "Knowing well the OTT, colourful, kitsch look that Man Like Me are all about, they constructed a life size, handmade, pop-up card environment in which the band members could move from card to card and interact with to bring the song's narrative to life.
"I shot half the video very wide to 'reveal' the card and the other half super close / fisheye to try and maintain the illusion of the set. Having worked with the band before I knew the strength of their physical performance would come across well in a confined space and went with an over saturated grade to keep the pop up card aesthetic."
