The Futureheads 'Meet Me Halfway' by Lewis Arnold

Sam Hill - 3rd July 2013

Having stormed the charts a few years back with a classic cover version of Kate Bush's Hounds of Love, naturally they returned to their roots and covered...er...The Black Eyed Peas - in complete accopella taken from their 2012 album 'Rant'.

Stepping into the directors chair for this Radar-commissioned short film - unofficial, but inspired by the music - is Lewis Arnold.  Lewis has built quite a profile with previous Radar-commissioned videos and his independent short films - and he having just graduated from the National Film & Television School, and with his grad film screening at this year's Edinburgh Film Festival, he has just signed with Rokkit. And this gripping, sinister film takes a 'stalker eye view' to the gym-going suburbian population.

Lewis Arnold:

"The idea was developed very much with actor Ricci Harnet, who helped craft the character and the overall story. I suppose I have been blessed on my promo work to have worked with great actors like Ricci Harnet and Jo Hartley, and so you trust their instincts.

"In the case of 'Meet Me Halfway' we changed so much of the story as we shot, in a very organic way, as we responded to the instincts of both Ricci and the other cast members. Although it's worth mentioning this was a nightmare for the producers and our 1st A.D Ben Burton."
