Following the release of Bowie's self-directed promo for Love Is Lost at Halloween, Barnaby Roper directs the official video for the ten-minute 'Hello Steve Reich' remix by LCD Soundsystem maestro James Murphy – featured on the new expanded version of The Next Day. And its a abstract VFX epic that offers yet another visual dimension to Bowie's triumphant comeback.Â
Opening with disembodied clapping hands, it becomes a mesmerizing investigation of computer animation wireframe systems, which coallesce into something recognisable - two intertwined bodies. The couple become increasingly realistic - in fact, palpably real.
And a very attractive couple they are too...
