Matthew & The Atlas 'Pale Sun Rose' by Neil Coxhill
David Knight - 16th Jan 2014
Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey) plays a fisherman who pulls a body out of the sea - a businessman version of himself - in the video for folktronica outfit Matthew & The Atlas's Pale Sun Rose, directed by Neil Coxhill.
“I’d been exploring ideas of how time changes your perception of memory through my lyrics, and Neil took that and created this story,” explains songwriter Matthew Hegarty. And that took Coxhill, Cox and co to the Sussex coastline to shoot the video, in less than ideal conditions.
"The shoot for this video was so cold, I even fell in the sea at one point,” says Cox, who is appearing next in a biopic about Stephen Hawking, Theory of Everything. “Everyone had their own opinion of what the story is about,” he adds. “I think the businessman is a figment of the fisherman’s imagination.”
Matthew and the Atlas release their debut album in the spring.
