Darq E Freaker 'Minger' by Sally Sibbet
Luke Tierney - 13th June 2014
Sally Sibbet's Minger promo for Darq E Freaker is as gory as it is gruesome. Set in a London estate stripper-bait work to turn their latest victim into their new ruler.
An interesting transformation with plenty of blood and emotional lighting along the way works very well with Darq's old school techno.
SALLY SIBBET:
"There's no two ways about it, Minger is a pretty intense track. And I think the biggest challenge for me was to create something that could mirror the intensity of it if it was going to stand up on it's own.
"At the same time of writing the treatment, I went to a screening and Q&A with Italian horror director Dario Argento, who proved to be a significant inspiration for the video with his combination of saturated coloured lighting and over the top gore.
"Other key references for the style and tone include Braindead – one of Peter Jacksons earliest films – which nails disgusting gore but with a funny element. From Dusk til Dawn which inspired the idea of the two strippers as sirens luring Darq E Freaker into the underworld. And Un Chien D'Andalou, with it's full frontal, stomach-churning eye cutting scene..."
