Daniel Avery 'Knowing We'll Be Here' by Joshua Lipworth
Luke Tierney - 13th Aug 2014
Drowning's never looked so (initially) calm and beautiful than in Joshua Lipworth's promo for Daniel Avery's Knowing We'll Be Here - shot nearly entirely underwater on 35mm film.
Taking inspiration from the reported euphoria that occurs when drowning as well as the woozy guitar synths peace slowly disappears in this underwater prison...
JOSHUA LIPWORTH:
"For the most part this was shot in-camera on 35mm film underwater and then rewound and re-exposed multiple times with some additional 35mm footage added in the edit.
"Many of the light effects came experimenting with placing many different kinds and shapes of glass over the the front of the lens to distort the light along with different shutter speeds to create interesting light trails and textures."
