Raury 'Seven Suns' by John Merizalde
Cat Velez - 12th Mar 2015
In the video for Seven Suns directed by John Merizalde, Raury tackles the dangers of technology addiction, and more specifically that of cell phones. Sound captions of said phone-addicts can be heard in the beginning of the video, as Raury and his clan aka LoveRenaissance are introduced. Â
Clad with bats and leather jackets, they take matters into their own hands to wake the masses from the their phone-dependency and the zombie-like state that they're in while using them. The aim is to match the exteme nature of the addiction ("I check my phone at least once every 5 minutes or else I have a nervous breakdown") with their measures, grabbing phones off of passersby and smashing them to oblivion.Â
Raury's track "Seven Suns" sets the tone, with the drowned out guitar riffs and vibrant lyrics matching the revolutionary feel of the video.
