Devonté Hynes & Neneh Cherry 'He, She, Me' by Kathryn Ferguson & Alex Turvey
Cat Velez - 17th Mar 2015
Merging fashion film and music video, this piece for Devonté Hynes and Neneh Cherry's track He, She, Me is directed by Kathryn Ferguson and Alex Turvey - now 'resident film directors' at Selfridges department store – choreographed by Ryan Heffington, photographed by Jake Scott, with a substantial cast led by actor and model Hari Nef.
It comprises a single dramatically-lit shot of highly expressive dancing by a spirited, andgrogynous cast who are all styled in 'agender' brands available at Selfridges – including Nicopanda, V Files, Yang Li x Genesis P-Orridge, Bodymap and Rad Hourani.
KATHRYN FERGUSON:
"The film is an evolving journey through a subtle push and pull between masculinity and femininity, captured entirely in one unbroken shot, utilising in-camera effects in a world populated by out-scaled physical props inspired by Faye Toogood's in store realisation of Agender.
"This film has come at a time when important conversations about gender fluidity and non-binary ways of being are finally getting a lot of attention."
