Oh Wonder 'Drive' by Thomas James

Cat Velez - 21st Aug 2015

Oh Wonder have released this touching narrative video portraying the crazy things people do when in love, portrayed by bandmates Josephine and Anthony and directed by Thomas James.

It sees Josephine just minding her own business and driving her stylish car when hitchhiking troublemaker Anthony casually struts into her life, turning it upside down. What follows is a much milder version of Bonnie and Clyde... The catch? Anthony is visible to no one but her.

THOMAS JAMES:

"To me, the song is about a destructive relationship - one which everyone else can see, but being within yourself, you don't really grasp until you're looking at with the benefit of hindsight.

"I liked the idea of being so wrapped in someone chaotic, that you're completely in a private existence, a version of your relationship only you can see. This gave way to creating a world where Anthony is a projection of Josie's imagination, a fictional devil on her shoulder that she is totally enamoured with, but turns her world upside down.

"Josephine's character is effectively self destructing under the influence of an imaginary love, her own hallucination of a relationship. A tragedy everyone, apart from Josephine is aware of, as she follows him into whatever chaos he wills her to."
