Corinne Bailey Rae 'Been To The Moon' by Favourite Colour Black
Luke Bather - 3rd Mar 2016
Corinne Bailey Rae has landed! After taking time away from music, Rae returns with the strongly jazz-influenced Been To The Moon, and this stylish clip directed by Chris Turner, aka Favourite Colour: Black.
The video sees Rae stake claim to ambiguous terrain (is it Earth, or somewhere else?!) whilst decked out in some incredible retro-futurist garments, styled by Aldene Johnson.
FAVOURITE COLOUR: BLACK:
"The brief for Been To The Moon was unusual. Not the average creative outline, but a much more open invitation asking if I'd 'like to shoot Corinne Bailey Rae, styled by Aldene Johnson, against the beautiful landscape of Fuerteventura?', to which the answer was obviously 'yes'.
"What followed was a long, honest and in-depth conversation with Corinne about the emotional concepts behind the song, sharing lots of style references from The Andromeda Strain (1970s version) to Daft Punk's Electroma, until we eventually developed the Robinson Crusoe-esque narrative.
"But instead of melancholy isolation we went for a more hopeful feel, celebrating Corinne's return to the music scene after a six year absence."
