Gorgon City ft. Vaults 'All Four Walls' by Daniel Brereton
David Knight - 18th Apr 2016
Daniel Brereton serves up a surprise for Gorgon City's team-up with Blythe Pepino from Vaults. For all his experience, he's not a director well known for narrative work for mainstream dance acts. And this is a narrative video with a familiar storyline, about two teenagers sneaking out for a night on the town together.
But Brereton has given this scenario his own distinctive stamp, particularly with the casting of two young leads who have the individuality and chemistry that makes their adventure worth watching. And if he's a director best known for his quirky work for alternative acts, the quirkiness here just serves to make it more believable and human.
DANIEL BRERETON:
“The song had a real spirit of wanting to break free for me, and so I tried to work in this emotional space for the video. The "Four Walls" in the title of the song are represented by the restrictions placed upon a young person growing up….you get these one-off nights, where you are let loose and experience all these new things for the first time, those nights are the ones that stay with you.”
