Elslatto, Thorne ft The Repeat Beat Poet 'Into The Woods' by Laurie Bridger
Cat Velez - 8th Feb 2017
Improvisational jazz, spoken word and 16mm film come together to create a poignant visual treatment exploring racial prejudice for Elslatto, Thorne and The Repeat Beat Poet's track Into The Woods, directed by Laurie Bridger.Â
We follow two thrill-seeking lovers as they venture into the woods to play an adult-themed game of Cops and Robbers, sexually loaded along racial lines. But what begins as a couple's harmless game turns into a tragic scene mired in racism, bigotry and hate-driven violence.
It's a familiar story told in an old-fashioned way, reflecting the time that has passed while issues of race-relations still endure, with hundreds of - often unarmed - black people killed every year in countries like America where racism persists.Â
