The Sherlocks 'Was It Really Worth It?' by Aella Jordan-Edge
Cat Velez - 16th Feb 2017
Aella Jordan-Edge has delivered this entertaining video for The Sherlocks' track Was It Really Worth It? about the lengths one will go to impress someone.
The video opens at the beginning of the end, following a nascent relationship that is already fraught with tension because of a large age gap between the two lovers.
The protagonist played by Conor McCarron becomes increasingly desperate to stay with his older girlfriend - breaking out into a performance of what the director describes as a "human peacocking ritual which ends with an ejaculation of a confetti gun." It's a sad state of affairs though as Kierston remains utterly unimpressed, leaving Conor to ponder the question ‘was it really worth it?'
AELLA JORDAN-EDGE:
"What I love about the end sequence is that we’re playing with the typically male phenomenon of putting on a display to impress a female but the props and dance moves are actually borderline homoerotic, which shows a completely unexpected side to Conor’s character.
"Kierston as his girlfriend may not be impressed but the viewer should be. In hindsight I like to think that the hidden message of this video is to stay open minded. You never know what might be going on under the surface, or in an attic between two lovers, and it might not be what you think!"
