Future 'Use Me' by Nick Walker

Future 'Use Me' by Nick Walker

Luke Bather - 9th Mar 2017

Nick Walker delves into a deeply personal part of Future's past in this quiet, thoughtful clip for Use Me.

Walker gives Future time to contemplate a moment in his childhood in which he witnessed his Grandma's house get robbed at gunpoint. He sits and faces his younger self in this video and works through some of the trauma that shaped him.

It's an understated yet powerful meditation on childhood's formative experiences - good and bad - that has a slow, cinematic pacing that's refreshing to watch.

NICK WALKER:

"While listening to Use Me, Daniel and I were discussing an interview Future gave where he talked about this time in his childhood when he was living with Grandmother and her "Trap" house got robbed at gunpoint. The video is the younger version of Future, who was there for the robbery, bringing the present day Future back to this source of great pain in his life.

"Future is someone whom we imagined never has much alone time so in this rare moment of solitude at the diner he flashes back to this memory. Ultimately this great trauma has played a huge part in making him into the artist he is today."
