Daniel Brereton's video for Drones Club is a carefully choreographed surveillance sermon set atop the toxic wastes of Beckton Alps.

Shot on several formats, from mini DV to 16mm and, of course, drones, the clip documents Drones Club documenting themselves as they make a pilgrimage to the top of the wasteland, which has a storied history of pollution and abject failure in the face of regeneration.

Dressed like a high-fashion militia, the band dance in the golden hour and shout their manifesto to the city sprawling out below in what becomes a dreamy mixed-format statement of intent.

DANIEL BRERETON:

"The band had created their own visual language, through photos and their outfits in their stage show, and so the idea for the video was to make a world for these creations to live in.

"We wanted to shoot on multi-format, so each camera had a specific role; it was partly to do with being watched and being monitored, and partly to do with documenting their own myth. The choreography was an instinctive representation of the music by Daisy Cauty, and then the location was somewhere that had a weird history to it, in a far-out borough of the capital city.”
