Shaka Ponk 'Gung Ho' by Guillaume Panariello
David Knight - 28th July 2017
French electro-punk outfit Shaka Ponk get a high octane, ultra-violent comedy noir from Guillaume Panariello that would have Robert Rodriguez nodding in approval.
Panariello's stylish, sexy, turbo-charged and seriously daft video for Gung Ho is part grindhouse, part-Eighties video nasty, and all labour of love. Framed as a title sequence and a trailer for Shaka Ponk - The Movie, Panariello introduces the band as a bunch of homicidal crazies in an urban hellhole, where they meet some grisly demises at the hands of The Very Bad Guy.
The explosive visuals just keep on coming, complimenting the unstoppable momentum of the track - and there's even a dancing boombox robot in there. Great stuff.Â
