The Cribs 'In Your Palace' (live) by Jack Lightfoot
David Knight - 24th Aug 2017
Jack Lightfoot follows up his three-song Kasabian session for Vevo Off The Record with this intimate staging of the Jarman brothers performing In Your Palace, from their new Steve Albini-produced album.
And Albini also mixed the audio here, which accounts for the unusually raw live sound.
JACK LIGHTFOOT:
"This was the second in our series for Vevo Off The Record, and we were keen to create a look that aligned with the aesthetic of the first episode, whilst also offering something fresh that worked with the artist. I was very aware of The Cribs' lo-fi, non-glossy approach to their sound and visuals, and wanted to make sure we adhered to that here. Therefore, I wanted to set the performance in the round to give it more of a genuine rehearsal room feel. We used two Steadicams to float around the performance.
"We were also delighted to bring on legendary audio producer Steve Albini to mix the live audio - as an avid Nirvana fan (Steve produced Nirvana's 'In Utero'), it was a dream come true to have Steve involved in one of my films."
