Gorgon City X D Double E 'Hear That' by Salim Adam

Emma K - 25th July 2018

Shot on only 6 rolls of film, Salim Adam creates a feel-good, summer video filmed on location in London for Gorgon City's latest track Hear That.

The visual motif of the ice cream van, slick choreography and use of film combines to create a distinct old-school feel, capturing a brief snapshot of summer in London - a simple premise brilliantly executed.

SALIM ADAM:

"I wanted to create a real feelgood factor for Gorgon City’s latest track. Shooting on 6 rolls of 16mm film meant that we only had a limited amount of film stock to produce. This created a very strong discipline for the project, and gave us a better understanding of what we could and could not shoot.

"For the music video, I intended to construct a fun, vibrant, and yet raw sense of London, documenting young adults as they played out a day in their lives in the inner city. D Double E playing an ice cream man in a van was the perfect catalyst for this."

DAVID WRIGHT (DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY):

"Shooting on a sunny day with huge clouds passing over every 10 minutes is always a pain when on film. We had to make a few stop adjustments on the fly without time for metering. Film is so wonderful that even if you get it wrong you can still get great results - mainly through over exposing rather than under."
