Joe Connor heralds the return of Mumford & Sons by capturing a real event and transforming it into a beautifully-crafted music video.

The band invited a couple of hundred fans to the banks of the Thames, to listen and sing along to Guiding Light, the first track released from Mumfords' new album Delta. Then the band set up in front of Tate Modern to perform the song.

In a multi-camera shoot, superbly edited by Chris Roebuck, Connor captures the genuine joy and warmth, and bond between band and audience, at a very special communal gathering.

"This project required a unique approach.  One of the uK’s most recognisable bands, a global phenomenon but also one that's been dormant since theIR last album were re-introducing themselves to the world and releasing their latest album, Delta.  I felt that the collective ideals that have always permeated Mumfords work from their sing songs to the Gentleman of the Road stop overs should be at the heart of that re-introduction.

"So, on the banks of the Thames, outside the famous Tate Modern we pitched the band up to play their latest track amongst a gathered throng.  I was really interested in capturing what it felt like to be there rather then mere documentation of the event.  For me the feelings of the crowd, the stories, the face and the atmosphere of the moment were more important.  

"Chris Roebuck helped me to craft that along with DOP James Henry’s beautiful cinematography and George K’s brilliant grade.  It all came together to create a true snapshot of a band on the cusp of a next chapter."
