Woman's Hour 'Don't Speak' by Fiona Jane Burgess
Promonews - 18th Dec 2018
Fiona Jane Burgess directs the video for Don't Speak, the first song from dream-pop outfit Woman's Hour's second and final album, Ephyra, released next February. It features the dancers Anders Hayward and Ellis Saul expressing movement to represent the troubled gestation for the album, which led for the band to split following its recording.
“The film centres around two dancers enclosed in a fragile wooden house structure," explains Burgess, talking to FADER. "It was clear to me that dance could offer a way to visualise the struggle within the song. Physical touch, the push and pull, each movement signals emotions we as a band were unable to express in words.
"Working with Anders Hayward and Ellis Saul was so intuitive and easy. They brought my vision to life so beautifully, I'm so grateful to have worked with them on this.” Burgess also features in the video, reflecting the tensions within the band while recording with her line 'Don't speak, you'll see' over the hypnotic beat.
