The Rolling Stones '19th Nervous Breakdown (Lyric Video)' by Lucy Dawkins & Tom Readdy

Promo News - 7th Feb 2019

Back in 1966 The Rolling Stones released the brilliant 19th Nervous Breakdown. Now Lucy Dawkins and Tom Ready have created the official lyric video to commemorate its release, reflecting the vogue for op art of the time.

Op art was at its peak during 1966 and the optical illusions fit perfectly with the subject of the song, playing with the viewer’s perception of reality, mirroring the idea of a fractured mind and a ‘nervous breakdown’.

Treated to look like 60’s TV show graphics with an aged aesthetic, the typography in each chorus was inspired by an original 7” sleeve which featured 'cracked' text.

Originally commissioned by ABKCO in 2017 to create a run of lyric videos to celebrate the 50th Anniversary reissue of The Rolling Stones 1967 LP Their Satanic Majesties Request, Dawkins' and Readdy's company Yes Please have gone on to make twenty-two lyric videos for The Rolling Stones in the past two years - including a video for each track on Beggars Banquet, re-released last year.
