Joy Division 'I Remember Nothing' by Helgi And Hörður
Promonews - 18th June 2019
One of the most seminal albums ever recorded, Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures has influenced countless creative minds over the years, and on the 40th anniversary of its release, a series of videos - soundtracked by the original Joy Division recordings - will be released over the course of 2019 beginning in June.
Working together with New Order, the band who arose from the ashes of Joy Division, their visual coordinator Warren Jackson has commissioned 10 new films, one for each track on the album, which will present a filmic re-imagining of the music in 2019.
The first one released is for the album's final song - Helgi And Hörður's film for I Remember Nothing. The Icelandic directors' film, unmistakeably shot in their homeland, captures an endless ritualistic combat - a sort of last battle - between two male characters, where hate and aggression, physical aggression develops into a sort of bond.
