Riton X Oliver Heldons 'Turn Me On' by Elliot Simpson

Riton X Oliver Heldons 'Turn Me On' by Elliot Simpson

Rob Ulitski - 9th Oct 2019

Dr Love is brought to life in Elliot Simpson's video for Riton and Oliver Heldons' reworking of the iconic Yazoo classic Don't Go.

The video for Turn Me On features an entertaining and risqué world, that perfectly captures the pulsing energy of the track and provides the eerie backdrop for twisted celebrity surgeon, Dr Love, turning the un-dateable into the irresistible.

Featuring throwbacks to early QVC-era shopping TV, a beautiful neon colour palette and surreal, wacky performances from everyone involved, the video is a journey through 90s nostalgia and B-movie aesthetics. Packed with both narrative and choreography, the many moving parts never detract from the fun, unique vibe, and it's a total trip to watch.

ELLIOT SIMPSON:

“As soon as I got sent the track, I knew I wanted to have fun with it and create a bit of a tongue-in-cheek narrative, and bring the ‘Dr Love’ character to life.  I wanted to create this creepy character, who like a weird, modern day cupid, performs these messed up procedures on unsuspecting patients to make them ‘desirable’. I really enjoyed experimenting with performance, prosthetics and VFX to create some cool moments in the video too.

“There was a great vibe on the shoot, we had such an amazing cast who all got really involved and had great chemistry on camera.  Big shout out to all of our crew and cast who worked tirelessly all day to make it all happen and really delivered in every sense.”
