Denai Moore endeavours to escape the stresses and strains of modern life, in Nadira Amrani's video for To The Brink.

On one level she finds solace in performance and extravagant clothing, on the other she is apparently trapped. Referencing The Shining, Amrani has Moore looking to find her way out of a maze-like building.  

NADIRA AMRANI:

"Me and Denai worked closely on the concept behind this project. I think we were really inspired by Stanley Kubrick. The architecture in his work and this dystopian otherworldly quality to his work. Early this year we went and watched The Shining at the BFI. The idea is that this is almost a Russian doll nightmare of a reality you can't escape. We recently moved to Margate and shot half the music video here by the sea, a place we regularly go to escape from a lot of the madness we see on the news.

"I think this idea of being "To the Brink" is the saturation of realising you apart of a system that is destroying itself through climate change, online hate, political infighting and all sorts of things and knowing that you can't escape this structure. You can't escape the oil leaks, they're in your living room. If its the internet or the powers that be. This staircase of never ending is this you can't escape and I guess this music video explores just that.

"We have both been a big fan of the fashion designer Robert Wun so it was such a privilege to have his designs in this film. It was so brilliant working with Denai on this one and I am very excited to see how this high fashion world could be explored more in her live show."
