Lacuna Coil 'Reckless' by Saku

Rob Ulitski - 31st Oct 2019

A young girl gets nightmarish visions in Lacuna Coil's Reckless, directed by Saku.

Focussing on a series of disturbing horror imagery, the girl's nightmares depict a starving man with shattered glass splintering his face, and a pit of hands pulling the band into a dark abyss, and that's just the start of it.

Continuing the storyline introduced in Layers of Time, Saku explores a dark, disturbing world with the heroine acting as the only source of light and hope - if she can make it out alive.

Weird and panic-inducing, it's a thematic mix Lacuna Coil are very familiar with, and as this project proves, still very good at.

SAKU:

“I wanted to pay homage to a certain type of horror movies of the 70s, which saw its maximum expression through Italian directors like Dario Argento, Mario Bava and Lucio Fulci and is still inspiring the genre in the modern days. That’s why we decided to shoot in the famous villa Arconati, also known as the 'Italian Versailles', taking advantage of its genuinely creepy and decadent look.”
