Rayowa 'Better Man' by Hobby Holmes

A man struggling with depression starts to make a change in Better Man, directed by Hobby Holmes.Â
In a room soaked in golden sunlight, a man is sat with his head in his hands, completely broken and unable to function. As he starts to explore the room and heads to the window to look outside, he starts to familiarise himself with the textures of the curtains and the way the light falls into the room. By focusing on these small details, he empowers himself to take slow steps forward towards a change.
As the video progresses, his movements become larger and larger, until he is dancing in jerky movements with only a hint of hesitation. He gets outside and sprints into the forest - still unsure of himself, but continuing to put one foot in front of the other regardless.
Hobby Holmes has created a very poignant and realistic tale of depression, and respectfully doesn't tie things up with a happy, storybook ending - that is not how depression works. What this video does show is the power we have within ourselves, and how one tiny step forward can be the first movement towards a happier, more fulfilling life.Â
