Zaya 'Hold Me Like You Know Me' by David Ranson
Rob Ulitski - 27th Nov 2019
Zaya reflects on boozy nights and fiery dramas in David Ranson's video for Hold Me Like You Know Me.
Written as a seventeen-year-old, Zaya's song is based on introspection and learning life lessons, and Ranson has kept the video concept similarly intimate and contained. Sitting on her bed wrapped in her partner's arms, Zaya's understated performance is both naturalistic and raw, telling the story with a more mature and learned outlook on the life she has lived.Â
A particular focus on mirrors around the apartment is a slightly on-the-nose yet inspired way to represent the reflective themes throughout the visual. It also gives us a slightly unusual perspective of some of the scenes, as a fly on the wall watching things unfold from afar.Â
