'Christmas Spirit' by Andy Delaney
David Knight - 19th Dec 2019
It's not a music video as such, but here is a short film with music, directed by Andy Delaney of Big TV, that reminds us of the difficulties of dealing with grief at this time of year, and the true spirit of the season.
Shot in Southend and Leigh-on-Sea, a grief-stricken dad (played by Curtis Flowers) is gently encouraged by his son (Bert Fields) to undertake a few good deeds for the less fortunate and in-need. He begins to re-engage with the world, but things are not quite as they appear.
Delaney and writer Rich With made the film for Cruse Bereavement Care, raising the budget via Indiegogo, and went to local musician friends - Matthew Halsall, Asylums and MG Boulter - to provide the soundtrack. The result is a memorable and affecting film, in the great tradition of the Christmas short story.
