Osh 'Suck It Up' by Glenn Paton
Rob Ulitski - 10th Feb 2020
Glenn Paton captures a house party with a raw and ready vibe in the video for Suck It Up.Â
Shot on Bolex, the video contains layers of different footage throughout, skewed on screen to create a contemporary and experimental aesthetic. A scattering of lo-fi visual effects create a slightly warped sense of perspective, matching the high energy pacing and DoP Alex Reid's use of bold colour.Â
GLENN PATON:
I wanted an understated music video which felt natural... a pre-drinks party with the right set of friends.Â
"Sometimes we spend too much time obsessing with storyboards, scene set ups and rehearsing performance. For once, I wanted to be part of the party myself without infinite takes, a clapperboard, boom mic and crew.
"The song suited the Bolex world and allowed me to shoot without the need for thousands of takes omitting the traditional structures surrounding filmmaking.
"I wanted an understated music video which felt natural with the right level of energy. A pre-drinks party with the right set of friends."
