Jamie Whitby embraces thermal imaging technology and complex motion control in his video for Glass Animals' Your Love (Déjà Vu). 

With an unusual colour palette and experimental post-production work, the visual is a vibrant, mixed-media trip with a futuristic aesthetic.

Mixing thermal imaging with motion control is no joke.

"This video emerged from the idea of feeding the lyrics to Your Love through a bad recognition algorithm; what would happen if a confused machine intelligence accidentally created something aesthetically interesting?

"I wanted to make something nauseatingly digital, almost the antithesis to all the s16mm nostalgia that’s flying about at the moment.

"The effect was achieved by shooting the same video twice - once with a real camera, and again with its thermal cousin. That makes it sound a lot easier than it really was - mixing thermal imaging with motion control is no joke, I can tell you. That it was even remotely successful was entirely down to the amazing work of my incredible team, and extra special thanks has to go to the post crew - James, Eamonn, and Doug - who burned what must have been a year’s worth of midnight oil getting everything done in time, and FLIR, who were kind enough to lend us a thermal camera for free."
