Chad Lawson 'Prelude In D Major' by Agostina Gálvez
Rob Ulitski - 23rd July 2020
Agostina Gálvez directs a minimalist, black and white concept for Chad Lawson's Prelude In D Major, bringing together the worlds of classical music and the New York ballroom.
Featuring dancers Jason Rodriquez and José Lapaz-Rodríguez, the video is a fly-on-the-wall perspective of a choreographed dance piece, backdropped by the New York cityscape.
Slow and deliberate, the restricted number of setups allow the choreography to breathe, whilst unfolding in a natural and organic way.
AGOSTINA GÁLVEZ:
"Edgar Degas said 'Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.' And what each of us see is as different as the individual peering in. This captivating choreography of Jason Rodriquez and José Lapaz-Rodríguez illustrates how art is received, interpreted, and expressed as uniquely beautiful as the persons themselves."
