Andzej Gavriss's short film for the charity Houseless Not Homeless combines imaginative fantasy and grim reality to explain how 'houselessness' can happen among people who call America their home.

A hardworking businessman is hit by a double-whammy of misfortune, losing his job and then bitten by a malaria-infected mosquito, and thereby plummets from the commanding heights to the streets - via a nightmarish fever-dream in the arid desert. 

The LA-based Latvian director - who has made a big impact with his video earlier this year such as You're Born for Russian artist Aigel - has created an unusual and memorable charity film. The use of the infected mosquito as a metaphor for everyday misfortune is inspired, and that allows Gavriss to create a powerful vision to dovetail with reportage photography to illustrate the crisis and the film's real message: over half a million people who call the United States their home are 'house-less' in 2020, and something needs be done about that.
