Keaton Henson 'Prayer' by Geej Ower
Promonews - 15th Sept 2020
Geej Ower reflects upon memory and family loss, in her slow-burning video for Keaton Henson's Prayer.
Focussing on the rooms of an empty home, the light changing at different times of the day, human presence is provided via home movie footage - particularly of the singer-songwriter's father, the actor Nicky Henson, who died late last year.   Â
GEEJ OWER:
Memories are imprinted on every surface and fibre we've ever touched or sat on or lived in.Â
"Keaton lost his father last year and he wrote this album during the period of time leading up to his death. The song is about the preparation of losing someone really.Â
"The idea for the video was a lot about memory (something IÂ was exploring a lot during lockdown myself, going through hours of my old family footage) and how we're all made up of memory - they're imprinted on every surface and fibre we've ever touched or sat on or lived in.Â
"I wanted to make something that didn't detract at all from the beauty and power of the song but in a simple, abstract way explored the idea of loss and family even further and worked in tandem with the raw emotion of the song."
