Palindrome 'Birds' by Nicolee Tsin
Rob Ulitski - 21st Dec 2020
Nicolee Tsin directs a moving vignette of interrelated characters migrating and crossing paths, in her promo for Palindrome's Birds.Â
Isolated to the world around them, these characters exist in a plane separate to their surroundings, in search of love, escape and meaning in the city of London.
Stalked by an omnipresent camera, we are offered glimpses into each person's narrative, before being torn away to another timeline as soon as we get comfortable. Though this is done in a soft, subtle way in the video, it could represent the way society lets 'shiny object syndrome' bleed into our relationships with other people - as soon as something better or more interesting comes along, we can cut any previous ties and pick up where we left off with someone new.Â
The concept is a beautiful and thought-provoking one, with stunningly executed cinematography from DoPÂ Miguel Carmenes.Â
