Through the eyes of cellist Malcolm Parson, Stuart McIntyre and Mike Weir's film Late Nights, allows us to witness the bustling landscape and hustle of its patrons who keep New York City going every night - even in Covid times.

The idea for the film came from Parson's own experience walking through the city and witnessing its truly unique life and rhythm, especially during Covid. With that in mind, Stuart McIntyre took an approach that felt personal to the city by using the style of great local street photographers like Gordon Parks, Ray DeCarava and Saul Leiter who captured the honest personality of the city in extraordinary ways.  He felt this would bring out a perspective embedded in the landscape and people.

Because of Covid, Stuart couldn't travel to NYC and direct it in-person, so he asked a young New York City filmmaker Mike Weir to co-direct with him. Mike got his two cinematographer friends, Marcus Lewis and Wayn Reid, and with some 16mm film, a digital video camera, a film still camera, they wandered into the New York City they knew ready to capture the randomness of the night.

The result is an intimate, observational document of NYC during a period that is unique in our lifetimes.
