Vistas 'Stuck In Your Head' by Callum Lloyd-James

David Knight - 26th May 2021

Edinburgh indie band Vistas get into Mad Men-era advertising, shooting numerous early TVCs on a frantic day in the studio, in Callum Lloyd-James's splendidly goofy video for Stuck In Your Head.

Things start smoothly enough as Vistas' Prentice, Dylan and Jamie appear on camera selling cola cans, face cream and breakfast cereal.

But then things start going horribly wrong, and the already anxious director (James Corrigan) starts blowing a fuse.

Directors... what are they like?

CALLUM LLOYD-JAMES:

I was heavily influenced by Living In Oblivion and The Truman Show.

"I wanted to show off the band's personality a bit and with their classy new Mad Men campaign look, I instantly thought of making a 1960s product commercial gone wrong.

"I was heavily influenced by the films Living In Oblivion and The Truman Show when writing the treatment. Both feature characters getting slowly madder as the world around them changes out of their control, and I liked the idea of putting the band in a situation that did the same."
