The latest video for The Academic by TEARJERKER - that's Hope Kemp and Ronan Corrigan - starts with lead singer Craig leaping into a swimming pool with no water, lying bloodied and broken as he begins singing Not Your Summer.

Situated in a deserted holiday resort - it was filmed in Portrush, Northern Ireland - while intercut with footage from vintage Irish Tourist Board films of idyllic summer holidays, this performance video aims to capture the frustrations of a squandered summer.

But ultimately this still looks as good as a picture postcard - courtesy of vibrantly colourful set-ups captured by Adam Singodia and graded by Vlad Barin, who also worked on creating the dream Americana-esque look of the band's Kids (Don't End Up Like Me).

​We wanted to poke fun at the idealistic image of summer created by our previous videos.

“'Maybe it’s not your summer, maybe it’s not your year'. Taking the lyrics to heart, lead singer Craig jumping face-first into an empty swimming pool really did sum up our feelings about summer this year.

"In our fourth release with the band, we wanted to poke fun at the idealistic image of summer created by our previous videos, by intercutting a bloodied band with idealistic, romantic footage from the Irish Tourist Board of summers from 1951-1971."
