Vasilisa Forbes directs a stylish performance promo for UK rock outfit Pale Waves.

Interweaving her fashion sensibilities with portraiture-style vignettes, Forbes uses lighting and art direction to visualise the compelling track. 

Shot in a studio, the video for Lies spans three contrasting setups which each offer a conceptual take on the lyrics.

"(The track) spoke to me of heartbreak and frustration, yet with punchy empowerment," says Vasilisa Forbes. "I wanted to create a striking performance-focused video for Pale Waves with Heather at the forefront; in a lighting and colour driven studio environment.

"A blue diamond shape is repeated through a performance cube where we mirror ceiling and floor, and a diamond studio formation ‘inversion’. Shadows and mysterious lighting-tonality speak to me of ‘LIES’ - covering up, hiding, sinister details...thoughts taking place in the shadows.

"Playfully the heart motif is presented and repeated through the use of blood-red tones, and heart cut-out lighting frames."
