Stéphane Berla directs a brilliantly animated spooky maritime yarn for French post-rock project Kwoon.
It follow the story of generations of fisherfolk, and reveals the grisly truth about the fate of fishermen who work off a rocky coastline, overlooked by a lighthouse.
Created in collaboration with Paris studio Brunch, the video combines VR illustration/animation tool Quill with Blender 3D software, to create a stop-motion feel.
The cinematic aesthetic is perfectly interweaved with textural character design and rich colour palettes, to create a heightened experience that would be near-impossible in any other format.
