Joanna Nordahl directs a horror movie-themed music video for Ashnikko, recruiting Sweden's top cheerleading squad for an irresistible combination of Bring It On and Midsommar.
The video for Cheerleader takes viewers on a haunting journey into the deep, dark woods of southern Sweden. Oozing with energy and unsettlingly hypnotic scenes, Ashnikko and her cult of dancers challenge modern beauty standards and the expectation of femininity through the male gaze with cut-throat gestures, uninhibited choreography, and powerful lyrics. To quote directly: "I’m not a girl, I’m a swarm of bees."
Also, Cheerleader does feature proper cheerleading. In fact, Ash's posse are the Swedish National Cheerleading Team.
