Amber Grace Johnson directs a delightful, very hairy New York-set fantasy for superstar Chappell Roan. 

The video for The Subway features a mesmerising clash of fairytale, New York grit and extraordinary wigs, brought to life in a theatrical montage. 

Jumping between abstract narrative vignettes and VFX dreamscapes, the video brings the themes of the track to life, with Roan attempting to track down a lost love as memories of her bleed into her reality. 

Feeling like an old-school 'event' video - seem to be getting more of those from the US these days - it's a spectacular feat, and very Chappell Roan, elevating her unique appeal to a new level in the music video medium.
