Fred Again.. ft Jamie T 'Lights Burn Dimmer' by rubberband.

Promonews - 3rd Mar 2026
Directing duo rubberband. complete their trilogy of videos for Fred Again.. with the final piece in the jigsaw of Brandon's Night.
Across the trilogy for Fred again…'s latest album USB002 - for tracks Hardstyle, Scared, and Lights Burn Dimmer - the SMUGGLER directors explore movement, intensity, and human connection through their signature genre-bending lens.
What rubberband. have created is a trilogy which is both technically nuanced and creatively unique, in equal extremes. Each one takes place in 10 to 13 seconds of real time, shot at extreme high speed, so what Brandon experiences in the span of a breath plays out across three and a half minutes of screen time.
Each film was shot on a different camera, in a different country, with a different crew facing a different impossible problem.
In Hardstyle, the camera moves from intimate close-up to expansive crowd, capturing the raw physicality and pulse of underground music culture. Then Scared shifts inward, channeling a tighter, more restrained intensity while maintaining the duo’s signature dynamism and emotional immediacy. And now Lights Burn Dimmer completes the trilogy by translating the song’s overflowing emotion into a moment of release.
Together, the trilogy highlights rubberband.’s boundary-pushing approach, blending performance, movement, and inventive visual language into films that are visceral, human, and unmistakably their own.
"Fred makes incredibly cinematic music," comment rubberband.'s Simon Davis and Jason Sondock. "Something about the contrast of his production and its pace against the extreme slow motion is just captivating - it just feels good to watch. The songs move fast; the image moves slow. You're caught between two temporal experiences at once, which is maybe what memory actually is."
