Viagra Boys' Sebastian Murphy has a new girlfriend, and she's 3000 years old, in Eoin Glaister's video for Bog Body - a tour de force of comedy horror.&nbsp;Glaister essentially tells the story of the song, and as he happily admits, the subject matter&nbsp;plays to his particularly strengths as a director.In classic VB fashion, the track combines surly rock 'n roll power with a idiosyncratic lyric sung by Murphy - it involves a description&nbsp;of an ancient body being found perfectly preserved under ice in a bog, leading to his immediate adoration - and possessiveness. Eventually he insists that 'You're just jealous of her darkened skin and her dainty nose'.This quirky concept&nbsp;all the motivation that Glaister needs to bring&nbsp;a unique love story to the screen,&nbsp;which starts when the reanimated zombie-like Bog Body walks&nbsp;into a London boozer, and begins her ancient dance ritual - before Seb enters the pub whilst she's doing full splits on the pub carpet.And so their passionate affair begins, with the well-preserved ancient woman acquiring the taste for a rock 'n rolll lifestyle.&nbsp;What could possibly go wrong?“I love bog bodies," says Glaister.&nbsp;"I’m obsessed. A support group becomes shared catharsis in&nbsp;Piers Dennis' latest entertaining excursion with Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka&nbsp;Self Esteem.&nbsp;The video for 69 opens in a community&nbsp;setting, where Rebecca sits in a circle of women, delivering the song’s verse with characteristic intensity (and yes, it's all about sex)&nbsp;as the group nods along in understanding, and then begin to be visibly moved. And its simply a great vehicle for the talents of Rebecca Lucy Taylor: her charisma burns through the screen.&nbsp;

Prepare to be conflicted - and knocked sideways -&nbsp;by Niall Trask's remarkable video for&nbsp;Alabaster Deplume, where&nbsp;surreal black comedy meets realistic heartbreaking drama.The video for the jazz musician, composer, poet and activist's song Invincibility is an&nbsp;audacious blurring of filmmaking conventions, where a powerful narrative about a sombre event involving&nbsp;a seriously injured dog, is subverted by the bizarre, dreamlike&nbsp;device of having the dog's head replaced by&nbsp;Alabaster Deplume's.&nbsp;He performs the song that echoes the sorrow and trauma of a mother and daughter as rush their beloved pet to the vet, and endure the inevitable end. That's sensitively but unflinchingly dramatised by Trask - while there are also flashbacks to happier times, with shots of Alabaster (aka Angus Fairbairn) as the erstwhile carefree dog. Which is both funny and also underlines the heartbreak, the onset of grief.It's audacious storytelling - and so sad it could justify a mental health warning. "He gave me total freedom to write on one of three tracks and I returned his trust by choosing to euthanise him to the score of Invincibility."On a personal level, there has been a fair share of tragedy in recent years and finding the absurdity/humour in it all, is always my go-to remedy. Directing&nbsp;duo WAXXWORK direct a promo oozing energy and swagger for Inhaler, in which&nbsp;a young man attempts to buy&nbsp;an engagement ring back from a pawnbroker, with explosive results.&nbsp;The video for A Question Of You is a gritty drama with comedic highlights - think Uncut Gems, an action-packed jewellery heist with a twist - starring&nbsp;James Keating alongside the&nbsp;Dublin four-piece. It's a masterclass in&nbsp;character and conflict despite its short runtime that's&nbsp;absorbing from start to end.Elevated by DoP&nbsp;Natasha Duursma's cinematography - it was shot on 35mm film - this is&nbsp;a cinematic visual for a real earworm of a track, and wonderfully executed across the board.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

Hannah Bon reflects upon human masculinity and its canine equivalent&nbsp;with intensity and dry&nbsp;humour in her video for LA-based indie-rock musician Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, aka Blondshell.&nbsp;&nbsp;From her performance of the song T&amp;A in a&nbsp;motel room, Sabrina radiates a juxtaposition of strength and vulnerability, following on with parallel sequences of man and dog to&nbsp;highlight the hidden softness and overt aggression in both.&nbsp;Bon explores empathy, duality, and deep human&nbsp;connection through this video - beautifully shot by DoP Guido Raimondo - with&nbsp;memorable results.[imgtoken data:1]"When I started thinking about how to approach T&amp;A, I knew I wanted it to feel this fleeting moment and not be something strictly narrative - more like a memory Sabrina was having paired with vulnerable portraits of the men," explains Bon, who drew a powerful performance from Teitelbaum to act as a counterweight to the portrait element.&nbsp;"Sabrina had a commanding, statuesque presence on camera that completely captivated me," she says. "It was a real pleasure collaborating with her. Dan French recreates the early 70s pop promo for Elton John's Step Into Christmas, and then imagines the almighty&nbsp;chaos that occured behind the scenes on the shoot&nbsp;- with the 1973 Elton played by actress and model Cara Delevingne.The hugely entertaining&nbsp;video&nbsp;reproduces shots from Elton's studio performance in the original visual - featuring&nbsp; Delevingne&nbsp;as an uncanny facsmile of glam-era Elton, plus doppelgangers of his band - while adding the story of the production team frantically attempting to add some festive flavour to proceedings.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Despite the addition of a festive feather boa, balloons and confetti, chaos reigns as they wrangle an escaped turkey, fail to book a real reindeer (and find a donkey instead) and tackle a deranged fan who storms the set, all whilst Delevingne mirrors Elton’s choicest dance moves and iconic facial expressions from the original promo.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On it's release over 50 years ago, Step Into Christmas failed to trouble the UK Top 20, but it's stepped up in seasonal stature in recent years.
