That's what&nbsp;happened here, as Myles and Gustav of Broken Antenna explain:“We enjoy the collaborative process of working with other directors, as it's always fascinating to see the way that they work and how they engage with the ideas and production in a different way," they say. "We are good mates with Tim and he brought up the idea of collaborating on this job with Rory, as we'd worked with him before and we thought that it would be really interesting.&nbsp;"We all came up with the ideas together on what was a really fast-moving production. We teamed up with DoP Thom Neal, through whom we know Tim and producer Josh Hillman who we worked with on our previous video for Rory. But after the critically acclaimed doc-style video&nbsp;for&nbsp;Wrong Side of the Street, for Hak's collab with Joe Armon Jones,&nbsp;they now swerve into gritty drama.The video for LUVLY features rising star Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Woman King, After We Fall)&nbsp;and brings to life&nbsp;Hak’s own story, growing up&nbsp;on the Isle of Dogs. And it really deserves to be seen.&nbsp;Kurdish/Swedish artist/actor Naziri and director/music producer Frost are collaborating as BIJI, acting as a lens into Kurdish culture through a blend of Kurdish and Western Asian music traditions with other influences, particularly hip hop. It's an audio-visual project which saw the pair travel to the Kurdistan region of Iraq&nbsp;last year to create the pulsating video for Zigidi.[imgtoken data:1]It's a great mix of high-octane, petrolhead-friendly&nbsp;action and social documentary, as Naziri embarks on an improbable mission to deliver the prized BMW of a local boss through the desert 'without a scratch', while recalling flashbacks of conversations with&nbsp;the high elders.&nbsp;Featuring some&nbsp;brilliant stunt driving by Rozh mohammed Al-sheikhani, Maceo Frost handles the combination of action footage and dramatic interludes&nbsp;with great flair&nbsp;and just makes you want to watch it again - and learn more about this fascinating project. Directing duo Broken Antenna reunite with Hak Baker for his collaboration with Ezra Collective member Joe Armon-Jones's new project to create not just a terrific promo but a hugely powerful short doc about gentrification in London's East End.As Armon-Jones and Baker's song Wrong Side Of Town is about being priced out of a&nbsp;traditionally working class quarter of London, the video sees Baker cycling through the area he grew up in,&nbsp;observing the effects of gentrification, but also the surviving parts of a working-class community that continue to define the city.Myles and Gustav of Broken Antenna have addressed this subject with righteous passion and considerable skill. With their experience in mixed media, they use various tools to augment the already excellent camerawork capturing&nbsp;Hak's cycle journey. And they continue to introduce new elements to&nbsp;grip the viewer to their subject&nbsp;- even as the track follows an appealing laidback reggae rhythm - leading to a stirring final section involving interviews with some proud East Enders.[imgtoken data:1]Giving more context, Hak Baker says: “All our lives people have been looking down their noses at us but we used to have the safe haven of the estate, blocks and high roads to commune and be human. Now, we hardly have that. The wealthy come to our area to take over and not take part, shoving us outwardly looking down their biased beaks."Nah mate, not round here. I think it’s time to scream and shout that we’re here to stay and if you don’t like it, you must be on the wrong side of the town.”&nbsp;Ultimately this is a film which potentially transcends its nominal purpose as a pop promo to reach a wider audience, to raise awareness and emotions, putting the issue of gentrification on the political agenda. Something like that does not happen too often. Bravo to all involved.&nbsp;

Twin sisters Elektra and Miranda Kilbey - aka Say Lou Lou - are back with their cover of Kate Bush’s You’re The One, and an emotionally rich visual for the track, directed by Chloe Hayward.In Hayward's video, the duo play two sides of the same woman, each battling her own inner obstacles which manifest into physical realities when trying to leave a relationship. While Miranda is in a domestic setting, Elektra (also an actor, recently&nbsp;in Apple TV+ show Shantaram) is constantly on the move, by car, foot and hitching a ride, to get to her destination.[imgtoken data:1]“The song is about the different choices we each make in love,&nbsp;that limbo of deciding to stay or leave," says Hayward. "We decided to play with the duality of the twins very directly and present these alternate versions of a love that might exist and simultaneously be a dream.“We were inspired by the Dogma filmmakers, so we set rules for the video as if it were a film. We never see the two girls in the same frame, Elektra is only ever seen outside and Miranda is only seen inside the house to echo these two versions.”Ambitiously executed, even with the aforementioned restraint in the concept, the use of lo-fi edit moments and creative cinematography helps elevate this video to true artistic heights, and it's a mesmerising watch.&nbsp;

The third in Dylan Hayes' trilogy of videos&nbsp;for Chris Clark's tenth album Sus Dog&nbsp;visualises the sonic chemistry that the electronic artist achieves with guest collaborator&nbsp;Thom Yorke on Medicine.&nbsp;Bringing the textural feel of his previous videos for the album, for Clutch Pearlers and Dolgoch Tape, Hayes features Clark and Yorke in performance separately, then brings them together so they appear to briefly merge, via the craft of editing and the clever use of state of the art tech.&nbsp;“Chris and I have always bonded over a common endeavour to conceal the digital," says Hayes. "This is interesting considering we’re using a very digital medium as an element for ‘Medicine’ - deepfake.&nbsp;"I was intrigued in using AI in a way that remained subtle. Typically, when deepfake or another AI element is employed, it is the main focus whereas for Medicine I wanted to bury the effect and layer it with additional textures, making it just one of the many components. Through the use of the technology Chris and Thom’s characteristics merge, which creates an uncanny synergy of both their faces and voices, causing a question of who’s who and a theme of the malleability of their voices."I wanted a shift of tone for Medicine. In Clutch Pearlers and Dolgoch Tape there were strong singular themes. For Medicine I wanted to adopt a complexity, looking at the degradation of the body and location with a heavy influence of Kafka’s Metamorphosis&nbsp;and Stan Brakhage’s Mothlight&nbsp;short film. As a trilogy they are held together by location and character forming."

Knucklehead have announced the signing of director and photographer Dave Bullivant (above) to their roster in London and Amsterdam for music videos and commercial projects.Bullivant has nearly ten years directing experience, with&nbsp;music video credits for London Grammar, Bonobo, Friendly Fires, George Ezra and more. His commercial clients include BMW, Samsung, O2, Three Mobile, Nike and Farmdrop.Originally directing in the directing duo Bison, Bullivant assumed the Bison monicker as a solo director in 2015, before starting to direct under his own name in the past year or so. He has also returned to music videos in a big way in 2021, reuniting with London Grammar to direct a trio of videos for tracks from their new album, including the acclaimed video for America.His latest video is his second for DJ/producer Bonobo (aka Simon Green) for the track <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39NfSiXXgcE" target="_blank">Otomo</a>, featuring O'Flynn, from the forthcoming new album. It was shot over&nbsp;three days in South Africa using a 360 camera that follows roller skater Harrison Peterkin as he glides through stunning natural settings and cityscapes.&nbsp;"I’m excited to get in to bed with Knucklehead," declares Bullivant.&nbsp;"They seem like a genuinely decent bunch who evidently make f*cking great work. A lone choirboy in his choral gown collects fragments of electronic equipment along mudflats in Broken Antenna's poignant video for Clark's Small.The track is taken from the electronic musician and soundtrack composer's latest album&nbsp;Playground In A Lake, released on classical label Deutsche Grammaphon, and features young Nathaniel Timoney on vocals - who plays the beachcoming choirboy&nbsp;in the video.Filmed in the Thames estuary, this is a tonal departure for the directing duo&nbsp;- that's&nbsp;Myles McAuliffe and Gustav Newby&nbsp;- compared to previous videos for&nbsp;Hak Baker and others.
