<h3>New body wants to give the next generation of British filmmakers a chance to shine with innovative MVEC scheme.</h3>A new organisation, the <a href="https://www.britishmusicvideoassociation.com/">British Music Video Association</a>, has been established as a non-profit body to act as a voice for the UK's music video community, with its first objective securing a tax relief for British music video production.Established by hugely experienced music video producer Rik Green&nbsp;and film production consultant Martin Poyner, the BMVA has just released its first statement, explaining why it has been formed and announcing it's plan to unlock production in music videos via a dedicated Music Video Expenditure Credit&nbsp;(MVEC).In the&nbsp;organisation's statement&nbsp;- which can be<a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/68fce29a7c58174e62ba86bb/t/6931b4e536d7dd35936c142b/1764865254250/BMVA+deck+001.pdf" target="_blank"> downloaded here</a> - the BMVA focusses upon&nbsp;the eminent role that British music videos have played in British film and culture for decades, its importance as a pathway into screen industries for young people of different backgrounds, and being "the beating heart of Britain's creative&nbsp;ecosystem"- a&nbsp;legacy&nbsp;that is now seriously endangered&nbsp;by changing market conditions.Aiming to become a "loud and united coalition" of all wings of the UK's music video community, the&nbsp;BMVA's plan is to build a compelling case for a tax incentive scheme similar to those established for other areas of film and TV production in the UK, making it more attractive for record labels and other investors to make music videos - resulting in more shoots, more jobs and more people developing their skills through music video production.The BMVA is now looking to commission independent research studies on the cultural and economic impact of British music videos - regarded as the most effective way to sell the idea of a MVEC scheme to the UK government.&nbsp;Estimating that it will require&nbsp;around £120K to conduct two studies by respected independent research firms, the BMVA is now welcoming sponsors to help raise the funds for those impact studies.Rik Green says that the impact studies are crucial for making the case to Goverment. "We know that if we want the government to take the MVEC seriously, we need hard evidence - solid, credible data they simply can’t ignore," he says."The best part is that, that evidence already exists. It’s out there in our industry, in all our work, in our impact...&nbsp;it just hasn’t been brought together in one place before and that’s exactly what we’re doing now."Martin Poyner adds that the reaction that the new initiative is receiving has been hugely positive across the board.&nbsp;"The reaction has been remarkable," says Poyner. To launch two new flavours of the Doritos snack, the brand's first ever global promotion is subject to this 360 degree music video featuring Professor Green's Coming To Get Me - written exclusively for the project - directed by Chris Cairns.
The promo utilises technology pioneered in Pendulum's 360º video for <a href="http://www.pendulum.com/360" target="_blank">Salt In The Wounds</a>, directed by Dan Ruttley earlier this year (and nominated for the Innovation Award at last week's UKMVAs), but this is arguably the first 'spherical video' that works on YouTube (it understandably takes a little longer to load than usual). 
And it will also be the first ever 360° video on an iPhone, downloadable as an app. The application enables users to change the direction in which they're viewing the video by moving their arms (or tilting the phone) up, down, left or right.
It's also one of a number of eyecatching music video/marketing tie-ins suddenly appearing, after the Faithless/Fiat music video/ad for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Ow63I1PtmII" target="_blank">Feelin Good</a> a couple of months ago. And almost certainly the most interactive.

One big song from The Big Pink gets a sumptuous treatment from Tim Saccenti, who appears to have taken the naked girls from the band's cover artwork, rebuilt them in ice - and then blown them to bits, sensibly capturing the action at 1000fps. Take that, ice maidens!Tim has been busy, as ever. His first solo art show, <a href="http://www.partizan.com/partizan/thedarkroom/garden_of_unearthly_delights___d">The Garden of Unearthly Delights</a>, just opened at the Diesel Gallery in Tokyo. And his <a href="http://www.partizan.com/partizan/thedarkroom/ps3__the_playface">Playface</a> commercials for the pan-Asia launch of the new PS3 console have just landed - a brilliantly orchestrated fusion of gameplay faces and sound design.http://www.youtube.com/watchv=OGnNlQ-KNv4&amp;feature=related[/youtube]Timothy Saccenti on making the video for The Big Pink's Dominos"The track has mountains of ambience to it, it's quite bombastic, so I felt having a considerable amount of atmosphere would be appropriate, in this case snow, ice, fog, flares and coloured gels. Oh, and slow-motion... Yes it's definitely a music video. In addition this, being a new band, was meant to introduce them as a live presence, so it needed to be a performance video in some aspect."Once we designed the lighting, which was quite flarey with lights pointed directly into the camera - light stands were removed in post by Mark Szumski, flame artist - Mark Holmes, the stylist, picked out some amazing outfits that worked really well, texture wise, with the side and back lighting as well as colour."I also had the idea that, to match the tracks bombast, we should blow something up. Not having worked with pyro before, it was an intense learning experience. The track being about relationships and their ice and fire emotions, I thought that ice sculptures of beautiful women would be a poetic take and work well visually."During pre-pro Caroline Celis, who art directs many of our projects, helped choose poses for the ice sculptures, and she did on-set decorating - including hand painting the drum kit - to match the feel of the piece. The sculptures melted quickly under the lighting we had but became more and beautiful as they did, looking at times like 3D renderings of Henry Moore sculptures."During the course of the shoot we found different ways to exploding them, placing detonators at particular places [neck, back, crotch] for different effects - my favourite being the neck-explosion-head-tumble sequence. An interesting phenomena was that, even at 1000fps, there was only one frame between when the sculpture was clear and glassy to when it turned pure white from the detonation and began shattering. It looked like a jump cut."Performance-wise Ivan shot with a masterzoom on the red camera which allowed for some lovely depth of field and to get much coverage without having to move the dolly very often, which saved us an enormous amount of time. It was a very challenging shoot - ice, explosions, snow, on a tight budget and tighter timeline - but our producer Brian Graf did a fantastic job pulling it all together."

It&#39;s pared down, character-driven and, as usual with Dan&#39;s work, very cinematic.There are actually two versions of this - for the actual track and for the Lifelike Remix, where things get even more psychological and exhausting.Dan actually found Frankie, his young running man, while shooting his previous video the week before. He&#39;s a resident in the street where Take That&#39;s <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2009/02/02/take-that%e2%80%99s-up-all-night-by-daniel-wolfe/">Up All Night</a> was shot, and features in the big street-party knees-up.
