With great cinematography from Daniel Bouquet and excellent steampunk-adjacent production design it comes with the directors' signature visual style on displlay in their previous videos for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2025/01/21/cero-ismael-driving-round-looking-unknown-folkert-verdoorn-simon-becks/89745" target="_blank">Cero Ismael</a> and the recent Punk Rocky for ASAP Rocky.Kun meets his partner - a sentient snowperson. They advance through the frozen wastes, tracked by heavily-armed enemies. But arguably the most important character is the remarkable setting. You get a sense of its power in affecting what is happening in every carefully composed shot. It contributes massively to the impact of the song and&nbsp;to the ultimately heartbreaking story, as Kun is forced to make a decision between love and living.Colder may not have been quite as cold as it looks - if it was, how could they have made this?&nbsp;But this is a fantastic achievement nonetheless.&nbsp;&nbsp;It could be the best music video so far this year. A robot vacuum cleaner goes walkabout in search of connection, in Aube Perrie's second video for Harry Styles.&nbsp;The video for Satellite is Perrie's follow-up to <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/10/31/harry-styles-music-sushi-restaurant-aube-perrie/79016" target="_blank">Music For A Sushi Restaurant</a>, where Harry played a captured Merman.&nbsp;This time, he hands over the spotlight, even as he is performing to thousands of&nbsp;fans on his current arena tour.&nbsp;Backstage, when a news report of the Mars Curiosity Rover appears on TV,&nbsp;the robot vacuum stops its routine business to take notice, and then takes on a life of its own.Soon we are with the little robot as it makes its determined way, out of the arena (we briefly see Harry out on stage) and into the big city, across dangerous highways, and into the surrounding country - just to get closer to that equally solitary robot on the TV. And he ends up, stargazing with none other than Mr Styles...&nbsp;This is a riveting fantasy of a quite a different type to the Sushi Restaurant video&nbsp;- warm-hearted, poignant, and probably influenced by&nbsp;several Pixar movies, including all the Toy Storys and, of course, the incredible Wall-E. But the fact is, it also looks like it was done mostly in-camera.&nbsp;Perrie gives it a beautiful visual aesthetic - and an irreverent twist -&nbsp;that sets this, and him apart from the crowd.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]

And the absurdity of it - cute pets in a King Krule vieo - is what makes the&nbsp;viewing experience so fun.&nbsp;Shot in&nbsp;both HD and lo-fi Mini DV, the video has a random, nostalgic aesthetic, and makes very good use of dog footage. Jocelyn Anquetil directs a mesmerising promo for Californian bedroom popster Dora Jar.&nbsp;The&nbsp;fantasy-inspired promo is beautifully otherworldly, and boasts eccentric art direction and styling, and an overarching sense of whimsy.&nbsp;Experimenting with texture and colour, the video is refreshingly unique and standout, and perfectly matches the ethereal tone of the track.&nbsp;

KLVDR's 11 minute epic for Stormzy's big return with Mel Made Me Do It is remarkable in a number of ways, and not least of course due to the star quality and sheer number of the cameo&nbsp;appearances. And yes, that does include the Special One...More to the point is the ambition of the piece. Fom the chatshow hosted by Jonathan Ross and ZeZe Mills, with Stormz sharing the sofa with Louis Theroux and Dina Asher-Smith - watched by Usain Bolt, at his home in Jamaica -&nbsp;to performance elements in the studio and the meeting with Jose Mourihno, to the momentous final chapter bringing a couple of generations of Black British talent together that includes a tribute to the late Jamal Edwards.At that point, Stormzy hands over duties to provide the spoken-word piece called Greatness - written by Wretch 32 and read by Michaela Cole. It's a&nbsp;quietly powerful climax of an impressive and entertaining production - this was a five day shoot,&nbsp;plus shooting Bolt in Kingston - that amounts to a big statement of intent by&nbsp;Stormzy - and reminds us of his unmistakeable charisma.&nbsp;&nbsp;And of course, the eponymous Mel, stylist Melissa Holdbrook-Akpose, namechecked by Stormzy in the songtitle, is there too, both behind and in front of camera - with her lint roller.

Jocelyn Anquetil directs a sizzling showcase for the return of Sudan Archives - aka US singer/violinist Brittney Denise Parks - with Home Maker,&nbsp;in an unlikely setting.&nbsp;Sudan Archives struts into an indoor&nbsp;second-hand flea market to check out the furniture - dressed to kill and ready for action - with a few mesmerized males meekly in tow.&nbsp;The guys are prompted join her provocative,&nbsp;high-energy performance, and when the lights go down low, a pillow fight ensues under strobing UV lights.A diverse range of recording equipment - including&nbsp;CCTV footage and camcorders - captures the action,&nbsp;to create a world that feels anachronistic and playful, and heighten a saucy sense of voyeurism and tongue-in-cheek sexiness.With the&nbsp;inspired styling and atypical choice of location, and a terrific edit by Charlie Von Rotberg, it's a brilliantly orchestrated work by Anquetil. A day from Hell just won't let up, in&nbsp;Hector Dockrill's tragic promo for Chase &amp; Status and BackRoad Gee.&nbsp;&nbsp;The video for When It Rains features actor Jack McMullen as a down-on-his-luck everyman, trying to go about his day to day life to disastrous effect.&nbsp;It all starts with an antagonistic phone call and a cigarette lit the wrong way, and builds to a high-octane climax full of suspense, blood, chase scenes&nbsp;and the opportunity for the character to finally get the nicotine hit he's gagging for.&nbsp;Brilliant work which anchors on McMullen's performance and a Dockrill's keen eye for narrative.&nbsp;

Winston Hacking, the king of collage, now embraces the technique of photogrammetry, collaborating with Michael Enzbrunner on this video for Animal Collective.The video for We Go Back - from Time Skiffs, the first studio album by&nbsp;Animal Collective&nbsp;in more than half a decade -&nbsp;takes us through a distinct arrangement of random&nbsp;visual elements, as is a hallmark of much of Winston Hacking's work. But unlike earlier videos where he has used cut-out 2D art and collage as his practice,&nbsp;here he employs photogrammetry -&nbsp;the process that involves taking overlapping photographs of an object, structure or space and converting them into 2D or 3D digital models.Collaborating with Enzbrunner on the direction, and&nbsp;Chuck Diep on the photogrammetry, the style works well in visualizing&nbsp;Animal Collective's&nbsp;eery and somewhat disembodied version of classic pop.&nbsp;&nbsp;"It was a thrill to work with Animal Collective - they trusted our sense of play and commitment to spontaneity which is mirrored in their sound," says Hacking. "The video is composed of scanned locations, miniature sets and collage cutouts that embrace the lo-fi 3D aesthetic inherent in photogrammetry."

KLVDR directs a palpably luxurious video with a brutal twist, for Skepta's return with Nirvana.Set in a stately home, Skepta plays a butler, second-in-command to the head butler (played by Terence Vincent),&nbsp;who provides a special service to the beautiful lady of the house (played by Marlene Marie) - in the boudoir.[imgtoken data:1]Things get darker when J Balvin makes his appearance, tied to an upturned chair in a dank basement. It's the first suggestion that things may not turn out so well for Skepta either.With a combination of the grand setting, supporting characters and the casting of a glamourous femme fatale, KLVDR has graduated to a fully cinematic experience, with elements of Bond. Ultimately, the ending is blood-soaked and downbeat - like the better Bond movies. But perhaps surprisingly, Skepta's fate is not to emerge as a winner, but to be replaced.

Pulse Films&nbsp;has announced that Nnena Nwakodo has joined the award-winning Music Videos division at the company as Executive Producer.In her central role within the division, Nwakodo will be responsible for the management and development of Pulse Films's directing talent across its music video roster, and signing new filmmakers. She will report into Rik Green, Head of Music Videos at Pulse.&nbsp;Nwakodo joins Pulse Films from her previous role as producer at advertising agency BBH. She is also the&nbsp;co-founder of Unsigned, an exhibition and platform that promotes up and coming photographers, illustrators and filmmakers. It was established in response to her observation that advertising agencies were working with a small, elite handful of talent and not embracing untapped talent. Nnena’s ability to spot and nurture new talent resulted in Unsigned featuring over 80 artists since its launch in 2018.On her appointment Nnena Nwakodo has commented:&nbsp;“I am beyond delighted to be joining the Pulse Films team after years of admiring the work coming out of the music video department. It's an incredible opportunity to unearth the next generation of exceptional talent and help them develop with industry-leading support and pedigree. Jon E Price&#39;s latest video for Blue Lab Beats - his follow-up to <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2018/02/07/blue-lab-beats-pineapple-jon-e-price">Pineapple</a> - brings us a sweet mini-fantasy of London life. It&nbsp;centres around three friends who perform an impromptu dance piece in an East End cafe, while the girl waits for the waitress to bring her apple pie and custard.Taking reference from the French expression &#39;Ooh la la&#39;, the dance is inspired by one of French New Wave&#39;s most iconic dance scenes, but visualised with eccentric Britishness. It works delightfully well for the band involved in the new wave of British jazz.
