ATARASHII GAKKO! return to the city that made them in&nbsp;Mackenzie Sheppard's new video&nbsp;for the idiosyncratic Japanese girl group - but miniaturised.In the new video for TTTTOKYO, the four members discover a magical gacha-gacha machine while exploring their home city. When they open the lid, they are suddenly shrunk to pocket-sized proportions and they set loose across Tokyo.&nbsp;Drawing on the playful scale shifts of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the video turns familiar streets and everyday objects into an oversized playground. The group race through the city, break into tightly choreographed dances and interact with their surroundings as though Tokyo itself were their stage, prop and slightly bewildered scene partner.[imgtoken data:1]The contrast between their tiny physical presence and unmistakably outsized energy gives the film its central joke, while also reflecting the group’s own trajectory: four performers who began in Tokyo before growing into a global phenomenon.Mackenzie, alongside cinematographer Oliver Miller, used carefully matched camera positions, perspective and lighting to place the choreography naturally within each location, while shifts in lensing and depth exaggerate the city’s proportions. The craft remains deliberately visible in spirit rather than effect: tactile, mischievous and rooted in handmade magic.“I had this concept floating around in my mind for a few years, but had no song to fit it,” says Mackenzie. “When the AG members asked me for an idea, it immediately came to life."It was a lot more technically challenging than I thought! There is no use of AI or CGI. It’s all classic compositing with live-action plates of the girls, shot using a scale formula to make them fit perfectly within our fun exploration of Tokyo in miniature. I enjoyed every moment of making this with our fantastic team.”&nbsp;

A condemned man disrupts his own public execution, denying the crowd the ending they came for, in Alex&nbsp;Takács's gripping 'acid western' for&nbsp;JJerome87 -&nbsp;the new solo project by alt-J's Joe Newman.Set on a barren mesa grassland, the video for Brush Me Like A Horse follows an intriguing and wild narrative where a grotesque event unfolds. As crowds gather with picnic baskets and binoculars, a television host narrating the proceedings with pageant-level bravura,&nbsp;the man whose crime is never disclosed&nbsp;is marched toward his public&nbsp;execution - by a highly original method.[imgtoken data:1]A longtime collaborator of Newman’s - as Young Replicant he has made videos for alt-J, the UKMVA-winning video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/04/18/alt-j-3ww-young-replicant/47388" target="_blank">3WW</a> and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/07/14/alt-j-deadcrush-young-replicant/48684" target="_blank">Deadcrush</a> -&nbsp;Takács stages the film as a sun-bleached fever dream, somewhere between a Sergio Leone western and a twisted daytime game show.&nbsp;With the video's semi-desert setting - it was shot&nbsp;in Agua Dulce, Santa Clarita -&nbsp;the inventively cruel instrument of execution, a metal cage that includes a treadmill perched over a yawning cliffdrop, could have been inspired by a contraption from a Wile E. Coyote cartoon.But as Takacs racks up the tension in this bizarre scenario, it sharpens into something genuinely unsettling. With no context for the man’s alleged crime, the viewer is left without moral clarity, forced to consider whether any wrongdoing could justify a punishment so extreme.&nbsp;As the pageantry swells around the accused, the question becomes whether he can deny the crowd of consuming the ending they came for.[imgtoken data:2]“Brush Me Like a Horse is an acid western about a man condemned to die in a cruel, humiliating public spectacle," says&nbsp;Takács.&nbsp;"Joe Newman came to me with the vivid image of a state execution via treadmill, and it immediately conjured this whole narrative world."In Joe’s songwriting, the images are layered and nested inside one another: a man is accused, the accused is a horse, the horse is a mouse in a field where cats roam. The track already contained multiple voices and characters; it cut so many strong silhouettes that my job was simply to fill them in.”This is&nbsp;quite an introduction to Joe Newman's new project, hugely ambitious in its storytelling. A departure befitting this ne musical direction, but&nbsp;it&nbsp;also fits comfortably into the greater&nbsp;canon of alt-J videos.

Samona Olanipekun's video for the second single from Louis Tomlinson's just-released new album features actors James Nelson-Joyce and Kit Reeve in a series of scenarios where&nbsp;emotions are always in flux. In fact, it's impossible to figure out what is really happening and what is the product of Nelson-Joyce's imagination.The video for Imposter follows the path of the pair's relationship, in personal and social situations. The actors' play each scene in various ways, the constant shifting of mood between them, and other family members, is always fluid, never settled and keeps the viewer immersed. It also follows offers a window into that feeling described in the song by Tomlinson - who himself makes an appearance late in the video, and breaks convention by leading the actors in a live rendition of the chorus.Olanipekun's video is part of a campaign for the new Louis Tomlinson album helmed by Untold Studios' Creative Director Phil Lee, who brought his&nbsp;extensive experience&nbsp;in music to deliver pivotal creative moments across the album campaign for How Did I Get Here?, released last month.Lee commissioned Imposter and its predecessor for&nbsp;Lemonade, directed by Emmanuel Adjei. Both films were developed to sit cohesively within the broader album narrative, reinforcing tone, identity, and intent. Lee was also responsible for the strategic creation and reveal of the album title, designing a multi-layered audience journey that unfolded organically across platforms. The title was teased through the integration of WhatThreeWords within fictional reviews seeded through social media, which when discovered and put together would lead fans to physical billboards in global locations, each displaying a single word from the album title.The campaign culminated in the full title and release date reveal, inspired by a traditional hand-painted sign installed on a remote beach in Costa Rica, close to where much of the album was recorded - grounding the global digital trail in a tactile, human moment tied directly to the making of the record.These moments formed a cohesive creative framework that connected music, film, and real-world discovery - underscoring Phil Lee’s role in shaping the narrative and experiential spine of How Did I Get Here? “It was a pleasure to work with Louis, his label and management teams to help implement some key moments in the launch of his third solo studio album," says Phil Lee.&nbsp;"Witnessing first hand how passionate and fanatical his core fanbase is and mobilising them to be part of the launch process was rewarding for everyone.”

Almost 45 years after the release of the original, The Specials' Ghost Town has been covered by Irish alternative folk outfit Lankum in spine-tingling fashion. Leonn Ward's hugely atmospheric video pays homage to the mood of this new version while also paying homage to the classic <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ2oXzrnti4" target="_blank">original video</a>.&nbsp;Just as in the 1981 video for The Specials, this visual for Ghost Town finds the band&nbsp;performing in a car, eyes to camera as the environment shifts around them - in this case, it's rural Ireland.&nbsp;Shot by Robbie Ryan, with breathtaking landscape shots and powerful cutaways, it's a disarming visual that hits you right in the core.&nbsp;“The first time I heard the track it floored me - pure emotion and strength," Ward explains.&nbsp;"The fractured world we live in today is in plain sight.[imgtoken data:1]"There’s a weight and uncertainty more than ever, in my lifetime anyway. Arguably, its rather miraculous considering the artist is not one to command big music video budgets, because it's movie-quality filmmaking.Takács creates a complete&nbsp;cinematic world for Vynehall's Cruel Love, inviting the viewer to unpack the meaning behind a narrative which establishes a powerful dystopian vision - echoes of Orwell's 1984, with Vynehall retreating to his cell-like apartment, its bleakness combined with elements of technology&nbsp;-&nbsp;before it moves&nbsp;into a more dreamlike state.Characteristic of the director's work, this is a triumph of filmmaking craft, where cinematography by longtime collaborator Dustin Lane, production design by Slow Pulse, VFX and location play a huge role. At first, its just the raw, explosive physicality involved of clashing bodies within a ridiculously small space - which is surprising and hugely intense&nbsp;in itself.Then the director adds another dimension to the&nbsp;brutal clash of bodies - what is happening outside the car, the voyeuristic relationship of passers-by who become the audience to Mitchell and a succession of combatants, a kind of sexual frisson that is created through the intensity of the action. The parallels with another in-car activity is undeniable.&nbsp;It's&nbsp;Fight Club&nbsp;crossed&nbsp;with dogging.&nbsp;Horrible, painful to watch yet hilarous, it's mesmerizing stuff, a fever dream. Alice Kunisué&nbsp;directs a wonderfully eccentric promo for Peggy Gou.&nbsp;The video for Lobster Telephone is the director's first promo with ProdCo, having recently signed with them for representation in the US and UK, and Kunisué's vision for the visual brings an otherworldly, playful vibe to complement the track.&nbsp;Opening with six guys magically popping out of the water, they awkwardly dance to the beat before spotting Peggy and becoming instantly mesmerised.&nbsp;From there, it's a trippy fever dream with lobster claw accessories, vibrant bouncy balls and a heavy dose of contemporary surrealism.&nbsp;“I think anyone who meets Peggy feels instantly charmed and entertained by her wit and humor," comments&nbsp; Kunisué.&nbsp;"It just came very naturally to bring that playful aura into a story.”
